老司机
     2016-April-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Meaning:

Literally meaning “old driver,” this term is used by Chinese netizens to refer to those who are familiar with animations, comics and games, knowing all the skills and tricks in playing the games. It also refers to those who often check out www.acfun.tv and www.bilibili.tv and know all the trends and hot topics in movie and TV shows. Generally it means a “veteran netizen.” The term came from a funny Yunnan folk song by the name of “老司机带带我” (“Old Driver, Give Me a Ride”), which is very popular online.

    Example:

    A: 你教教我打魔兽吧。

Nǐ jiāojiāo wǒ dǎ móshòu ba。

Please teach me to play World of Warcraft.

    B: 你还是让小林教你吧,他才是个老司机。

Nǐ háishì ràng xiǎolín jiāo nǐ ba, tā cái shì gè lǎosījī。

You’d better ask Xiao Lin. He is a skilled player.
