“FOOLISH Plans,” a low-budget Chinese film starring Wang Ning, Xiu Rui and Wang Ou, will debut on the Chinese mainland July 8.
Full of dark humor, the film revolves around three friends and the problems they face after getting accidentally involved in a murder.
The audiences can relate to the twists in the lives of the lead characters, the film’s director Jiang Tao told media Sunday.
Wang Ou, an actress who shot to fame with the hit TV series “Nirvana in Fire,” plays a hot member of the film’s “loser” trio.
“I couldn’t stop laughing while reading the script,” she said. “A lot of present-day concerns of ordinary people are featured in a funny way in the movie.”
China, the world’s second-largest movie market after the United States, has released a number of comedy films in recent years, many of them low-budget. In 2015, “Lost in Thailand” made 1.61 billion yuan (US$249 million) and “Goodbye Mr. Loser” 1.44 billion yuan, among the country’s box-office toppers. Both are Chinese comedies. (China Daily)
