Kesha makes stage appearance with DJ Zedd
     2016-April-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

KESHA made a surprise appearance at the Coachella festival in California.

She performed during a set by Zedd, singing his hit “True Colors.”

It was her first public appearance on stage since a court ruled that she was not allowed to leave the record deal she has with Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records.

She claims the 41-year-old producer sexually assaulted her, something he strongly denies.

Before the performance, the singer had used Instagram to tease that she would be performing somewhere and fans had speculated it would be Coachella.

During her performance, she didn’t speak directly to the crowd.

However, the lyrics of “True Colors” could be interpreted, by some, as significant and personal to the singer.

The lyrics include: “It’s time to light the flame, right before it rains, I’m not afraid, I’m not” and “we’ve escaped our capture, yet we have our masters.”

The singer’s most recent attempt to get out of her contract with Kemosabe Records, owned by Sony Music, failed.

A judge in New York refused to overturn the earlier ruling and dismissed claims the singer is now a “slave” to the record label.

The singer’s lawyers claimed she was the victim of a hate crime, but the judge disagreed.
