Officials from KFC and Tencent serve the first batch of customers in a QQ-themed KFC store in Shenzhen Book City CBD Store on Friday. The restaurant is China’s first jointly launched by KFC and Internet giant Tencent. The companies have officially announced a collaboration with the aim of connecting with China’s young consumers. The theme store offers family “hangout” packs with QQ cards, that family member can then use on the QQ social platform to purchase VIP services and membership. KFC will decorate 5,000 stores with QQ themes in China, creating a “QQ KFC WORLD.” These co-branded stores will combine “dining, socialization and entertainment,” and the two brands will create online stores together, according to a company press release.Sun Yuchen
