Exhausted from studying, boy kills self
     2016-April-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A 15-YEAR-OLD student, who was weary of study, killed himself by jumping off the top of a 30-story building in Bao’an District on Monday.

In his notebook, he said he was tired of studying.

The boy’s mother Zheng cooked breakfast as usual, but she found her son wasn’t home. She thought he had gone out jogging. The father, Xu, went out to look for his son. At 7:20 a.m., while bringing his daughter to school, he found a crowd of people standing downstairs. On his way back, the people were still there and he learned that his son was dead.

According to Xu, his son, identified as Runrun, may have climbed a barrier and jumped from the top of a building in the housing compound.

The father presented a video clip from a smartphone to reporters which showed Xu and his son arguing.

In the video, Runrun said his father didn’t understand him and was forcing him to study. The boy said there are many interesting things to do outside of studying.

In a similar incident in Longgang on Tuesday, a 14-year-old student Li, a native of Chongqing, killed himself by jumping from an apartment building in the Lizhi housing estate in Nanling Village in Buji, Longgang District.

Li didn’t go to school Monday and the school arranged a teacher to visit the family Monday evening. The reason for the suicide is still unknown.
