    An elephant, who has spent years carrying tourists to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, has died from exhaustion.

    Sambo collapsed after suffering a heart attack while walking for 40 minutes in the searing heat.

    A vet, who examined the elephant, said it died "due to high temperatures, heat exhaustion and lack of wind that would have helped to cool her."

    An investigation has been launched after pictures of Sambo lying dead on the side of the road were posted on Facebook.

    The elephant, who was between 40 and 45, spent years carrying tourists to and from the famous temple complex.
