DUTCH MOM SEEKS SON’S BIOLOGICAL PARENTS

A WEEKLONG search in Shenzhen for the biological parents of her adopted son, Junjun, seems likely to end with disappointment.

It is the fourth time Marian Snoek, a woman from the Netherlands, has sought the biological parents of her son Junjun in Kunchong, Dapeng New Area, where Junjun was abandoned in 2009.

“To abandon him must have been the most difficult choice for his biological mother. Junjun just wants to see them and I just hope I can make this dream true,” Snoek said Thursday.

“We got no useful information every time and printed 900 leaflets with Junjun’s photos and contact information such as QQ, WeChat, phone numbers and email,” said Snoek, who was accompanied by her friend and translator Wu.

Snoek is staying in a hotel near the Kuichong Bus Terminal, which is several hundred meters away from the place where Junjun was found.

“We have gone to Nan’ao People’s Hospital, Dapeng People’s Hospital and Kuichong People’s Hospital, but we didn’t find any clue,” said Snoek.

“We won’t give up as long as Junjun still wants to see his parents. We come to China to find his parents nearly every year and stay in Kuichong for a week. But it is quite beyond Marian’s ability, so we would like to seek help from media,” Wu said.

“I will leave for the Netherlands this weekend, but I don’t want to miss any clue,” said Snoek, adding that if Junjun’s parents don’t want to meet her, they can have a DNA test at Shenzhen People’s Hospital.

Snoek adopted two children from China - Mingming and Junjun who were born with congenital cleft lip and palate. Mingming is their first adopted child from a social welfare center in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2009 and Junjun was adopted in 2011.

In 2013, Mingming’s parents were found in Guangxi.

Junjun, was abandoned in a paper box under a tree opposite the Kuichong Middle School. He was found by Luo Weihua, a furniture factory worker, on his way home March 4, 2009.

Luo called police and Junjun was sent to the Longgang Social Welfare Center, where he was named Long Kuijun. Junjun came with his family to Kuichong two times in 2013 and 2014, but they failed to find his biological parents. The cost for the family trip to China is a heavy burden for the couple who have an ordinary income

Anyone with information about Junjun’s parents can contact Marian Snoek:
