THE Shenzhen Municipal Transport Commission will open holiday express buses, extend bus service hours and arrange stand-by buses to deal with the travel peak during the May Day holiday between Saturday and Monday.

The Shenzhen transport commission will operate nine additional express bus routes to the city’s eastern tourist attractions, including four routes to Dameisha and five routes to the Dapeng Peninsula.

The five routes to the Dapeng Peninsula will link Nan’ao Xinda Bus Terminal with Yangmeikeng, Futian Transport Hub, OCT School in Xichong, Dongchong and the Shuilanwan Bus Terminal on Longping Road West in Longgang District. The four routes to Meisha will pick up passengers at Huangbeilin Station of Shekou Line, Meilin Checkpoint, Unversiade Station and Henggang Station of Longgang Line.

The express bus routes to Dameisha will operate from Huangbeiling Metro Station between 3 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., from Meilin Checkpoint between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and from the Universiade Metro Station on Longgang Line between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The express buses between Henggang Metro Station on Longgang Line and Xiaomeisha will operate between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dameisha will set a cap of 50,000 visitors during the holiday.

Besides expanding bus service for the holiday, the commission will also add 20 buses to Route E11 operating each day between Shenzhen North Railway Station and the Nan’ao Bus Terminal. The capacity of route M423, which links Dapeng Geopark and Dapeng Bus Terminal, will be doubled to four buses.

Forty buses will be on standby at Nan’ao and Xinda bus terminals to transport stranded travelers when necessary.

Final buses departing from Dameisha and Xiaomeisha will be extended to 2 a.m. during the holiday. In addition, the transportation commission will extend service hours for the J1, M437, 380, 380B, 387, 103A and 103B buses from Dameisha and Xiaomeisha to 2 a.m. nightly during the holiday period.

The bus service of B685 and B689 at Futian Checkpoint will be extended to 11 p.m. The final buses of routes B737, B794 and B817 departing from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint will leave at 9 p.m. Metro service will be extended to midnight Friday. Some buses linking Metro stations, such as N1, N2, N8, N10, N13, N16 and N17, will run on an extended schedule to 30 minutes past midnight.

The weather will be cloudy with occasional showers during the May Day holidays in Shenzhen, but there will be heavy rain in central and northern parts of Guangdong from Monday to Tuesday.
