THE Xinda Tourism Transportation Center will be put into operation Friday, offering 1,600 parking spaces and public transport to other parts of the Dapeng Peninsula.

The transportation center is meant to relieve congestion and parking difficulty at Depeng Peninsula, especially during tourism season and public holidays.

Drivers can park their cars at the center and take buses to other tourism attractions in Dapeng such as Yangmeikeng, Dongchong, Xichong and the Geopark.

Police will impose traffic controls on Xindong Road, the road to the transportation center, when necessary. Private cars will be prohibited from entering the Yangmeikeng scenic spot during the May Day holidays.

Police estimate, based on the statistics of previous years, around 200,000 people will go to the tourism attractions in East Shenzhen each day during the coming holidays.

Vehicles could be stuck in traffic for three to four hours on roads. The Kuichong Exit of Yanba Expressway and Kuipeng Road could see heavy traffic between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day during the holidays.

The expressways will be toll free for light vehicles with no more than seven seats during the holidays and police estimate the travel peak of vehicles leaving the city will be Friday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

The Humen section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, Qinghu-South China City section of Jihe Expressway, Shenzhen section of Huizhou-Yantian Expressway, Houmen section of Shenzhen-Shantou Expressway and Yuegan Expressway will see heavy traffic.
