Brewery uses yeast from belly button lint
     2016-May-2  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN Australian brewery is mixing up a unique malted beverage for an upcoming festival: a beer brewed using yeast from belly button lint.

The Victorian micro-brewery 7 Cent Brewery from northwest of Melbourne, is set to reveal their latest creation at the 2016 Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) this month.

“Some say why? We say why not?” a blog post on the brewer’s website reads.

“We are really interested to see if the idea of drinking something that originated from a brewer’s belly button is too much for even the most hardened beer geek.”

7 Cent Brewery co-founder Doug Bremner said the yeast strains were tested to ensure they were sterile.

He said the beer would hit pubs in Melbourne depending on response from the beer festival.

The bodily grown beer is said to have been inspired from an American beer created in Oregon that was grown from beard hair. According to the brewers, the beer is “in the style of a new world-ish Belgian-ish Witbier with fresh orange zest and toasted coriander seeds.”(SD-Agencies)
