This week, the English corner’s topic is “The Responsibility to Protect: Military Intervention for Humanitarian Purposes.” It will focus on an article from the United Nations discussing military interventions for humanitarian purposes in Kosovo, Northern Cyprus and South Ossetia.

Seas of Years
Seas of Years, a post rock band from Stockholm, Sweden, will perform May 21 at B10 Live. The band was formed around mid-summer 2012 with the intention of writing instrumental post rock. They are touring in China promoting their new album “The Ever Shifting Fields.”

Two exhibitions
Glass pieces on loan from the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and cultural relics on loan from six museums in Sichuan Province are on display at the Shenzhen Museum. The glass show offers a thoughtful, expressive, and utterly breathtaking exploration of glassmaking in Europe from the 4th century B.C. to the present day. The Han Dynasty relics feature a spectacular selection of tomb tiles, bronzeware and pottery figurines.
