    Bullock donates

Hollywood has responded to the dire* situation in Japan with generosity*.

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock became the latest star to join the cause when the American Red Cross said on Thursday that she had given US$1 million to help victims of the disaster in Japan.

The donation by Bullock stands out as one of the biggest donations by a single Hollywood star.

  Barrymore to direct

Drew Barrymore plans to direct her second movie, “How to Be Single,” a romantic comedy based on a 2008 novel of the same name.

“Single” explores the loves and break-ups of a group of New Yorkers over the course of 10 years. Barrymore made her directing debut in 2009 with “Whip It.” She recently finished a starring turn in the environmental movie “Whales.” (SD-Agencies)
